April 21, 2006: Reza'i: Iranian Nation To Make 'Final Decision' in Confrontation With US
Bushehr, April 21, IRNA -- Secretary of the State Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei (Reza'i) said here late Thursday the Iranian nation will make the final decision in the challenge with the US.
Addressing a gathering in this southern province, Rezai said the Iranian nation, as proved in 1979 Islamic Revolution, is decisive in defending their rights.
He rejected the possibility of a US attack on Iran, saying under such crucial circumstances in which there is a possibility of economic sanctions, the Iranian nation will have the final say.
"Should the Americans start a war, the Iranians will weather it as they did during the eight-Year Sacred Defense (the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war) and the Islamic Revolution," he said.
Referring to the US president George Bush's recent threats against the stances of Iranian officials, Rezaei said authorities in government, Majlis and armed forces have programs for defending the nation.
"Islamic Iran has capabilities to defend herself. We hope not to face a critical condition; however, Iranians will defend by all means in case of any assault," he noted.
Turning to the success of Iranians in mastering the nuclear fuel cycle know-how, Rezaei said such a development, while putting some in anger, is suggestive of Iran's enormous capabilities and capacities.
