World to Terrorists:  Busted!

by Laura Mansfield

“What do they wish to communicate when they depict the Prophet's turban as a bomb? They only intend to insinuate that we (Muslims) are either supporters of terrorism or ruthless.”

That’s the question that Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani asked his sermon delivered today during Friday prayers at Tehran University.

He goes on to say “Despite the many Koranic verses on the importance of compassion and care, the unfair Western media try to distort the compassionate Islam as a ruthless religion.”

This is getting tiring.  Has he not read the Qu’ran?  Is he not familiar with the many surah’s that call or violence against non-Muslims?  Did he miss this surah?

Surah 47, Ayat 4:  Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been God's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of God-- He will never let their deeds be lost.

Who are the Unbelievers mentioned in this Surah?  According to  Surah 5, verse 76:  They are the unbelievers who say, "God is the Messiah, Mary's son."

I don’t see any compassion there, do you?  But the verse above is not an exception.  Take a look at these other verses from the Qu’ran which advocate violence and ruthlessness against the enemies of Islam”

This is the reward for those who fight against God and His Messenger and hasten about the earth to do corruption there: they shall be slaughtered, or crucified, or their hands and feet shall alternatively be struck off, or they shall be banished from the land. This is the degradation for them in this world; and in the world to come awaits a mighty chastisement. (Surah 5, Ayat 37)

O believers, take not the Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other. Who so of you makes them his friend is one of them. (Surah 5, Ayat 56)

O believers, fight the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you a harshness. (Surah 9 Ayat 125)

Cursed they shall be, and wherever they are come upon they shall be siezed and slaughtered all God's way. (Surah 33, Verse 62)

I’m not going to go reprint all the similar verses from the Qu’ran here.  But suffice it to say that Rafsanjani knows darned well that these verses exist in the Qu’ran.  Actually, I’m quite sure he knows these verses.  In December 2004, a report on IRNA, the state-run news agency in Iran, published a transcript of a speech delivered by Rafsanjani.  In the speech he states the following:

Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been God's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of God-- He will never let their deeds be lost.

Rafsanjani, Dude, you’ve been busted.  So why the duplicity?

Doesn’t the following verse from the Qu’ran accurately portray exactly what Al Qaeda has said they want to accomplish?

Do the people of the cities feel secure our might shall not come upon them at night while they are sleeping? Do the people of the cities feel secure our might shall not come upon them in the daylight while they are playing? (Surah 7, Ayat 95)

Compare this quote with the following quote from Osama Bin Laden’s videotaped message of October 2004:

Your security is in your own hands. And every state that doesn't play with our security has automatically guaranteed its own security.

It’s pretty clear where Bin Laden, Ahmadenzhad, Rafsanjani, and the other Islamist terror promoters get their inspiration.

So in response to his question:

“What do they wish to communicate when they depict the Prophet's turban as a bomb? They only intend to insinuate that we (Muslims) are either supporters of terrorism or ruthless.”

Perhaps what we want to tell you is that you’re busted.  We’re on to you. We know what you’re up to.

If you want us to believe that you practice those portions of your Qu’ran that promote compassion and peaceful coexistence then maybe you’d better start preaching them.
